Of pink....or blue??

Just the other day I was out with my mum and dad....talking about new cars and all that. As we drove on, I happened to see the Honda Jazz in a beautiful shade of baby blue and I commented that I liked the new colours. As we talked, I realized that in KL whenever I saw a baby pink Honda Jazz...it was always driven by your average CEO-looking types...the executive MEN types. I couldn't help wondering about that out loud. Mum chimed in with a, "Don't you know? Now the latest thing is for guys to wear pink!"

But I did know that...in fact, a friend (who shall remain nameless) once told me that the reason why guys wore pink was to show that they were secure enough to not be afraid... afraid that people might laugh and comment that they were wearing "girly colours"... In fact, it's supposed to say that, "We're manly enough to wear this colour..."

But what I want to know is...who decided that blue was for boys and pink was for girls anyways? Isn't it just a colour? I mean....even clothes! In history, men used to wear SKIRTS for heaven's sakes!! Look at the Romans and the Greeks! Look at the Egyptians! All great nations. Now, if a guy were to wear a skirt, he'd be laughed out on his rear end! In which case, don't people just have to decide that they want to be comfortable?

I think this all boils down to the basic question of, "Who decided that blue was for boys and pink was for girl? Who decided pants were for males and skirts for females?" You tell me...
